Inspissated bile syndrome in a neonate treated with cefotaxime: sonographic aid to diagnosis, management, and follow-up.

چکیده

holelithiasis in neonates is usually pigmentary and composed of calcium bilirubinate.1,2 In children, cholelithisasis and inspissated bile or sludge are associated with prematurity, cystic fibrosis, hemolytic diseases, hemorrhage, congenital heart disease, starvation, total parenteral nutrition, infection, dehydration, ileal resection, abdominal surgery, congenital anomalies of the biliary tract, chronic liver disease, medications (ceftriaxone), and up to 43% of cases are idiopathic.2,3 We report the case of a neonate who had recurrent cholestasis after being treated for sepsis with cefotaxime.
